Exclusive: Designer Egg Chair for 30th Anniversary of Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

On 12th October 2009, the 30th anniversary of the first publication of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by the late, great Douglas Adams, Penguin Books publish the sixth book in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy series, And Another Thing . . . by bestselling author of the Artemis Fowl series, Eoin Colfer.

To celebrate publication of And Another Thing . . . Irish interior design practice Lost Weekend have teamed up with Eoin and renowned Danish furniture designer, Fritz Hansen, to create 42 (the number 42 being, according to Adams, the answer to all the questions in the universe) exclusive And Another Thing . . . Egg chairs.

Why an Egg chair? The iconic Egg chair designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1958, features in Eoin’s book, which sees him bring eternal pessimist Arthur Dent, his alien best friend Ford Prefect and the two headed Galactic President Zaphod Beeblebrox back from the dead.

The 42 individually numbered chairs will feature a unique embroidered exploding earth on the back, hand finished to add to their exclusivity. The front of the chair features stunning optical white hide with a cow hide seat cushion.

Chaplins are delighted to announce that Interior design practice Lost Weekend have chosen us to showcase and sell the chairs exclusively within the UK. Anyone who purchases a chair will be registered as the owner and will also receive a free, signed edition of And Another Thing . . . A matching footstool will be made available to owners later in the year.
