Our homes are made up of lots of different moments. And yet oftentimes it’s the littlest details that make the biggest difference. Over the years, we’ve found that one of the easiest ways to improve a space is through beautiful lighting and decorative mirrors. While it might seem frivolous at first, trust us when we say that access to light and space can transform even the smallest of apartments into an inviting and generous setting. It’s an idea that feels particularly pertinent right now, which is why we’ve teamed with up with Danish design house, Gubi, to offer 20% off their entire collection of contemporary mirrors and lighting.
Not sure where to begin? We’ve prepared a couple of tips and tricks to help you make light work of these decorative tools.
The Fairest of Them All
One of the qualities we love about Gubi mirrors is that for all their clean lines, they convey a nostalgic aspect that promises to add story to any interior. So whether it’s the equestrian-inspired leather sling of the Adnet or the Art Deco detailing of the IoI, you know that you’re investing in a style with substance.
Functionally, each of these mirrors can be used in a plethora of ways to help amplify your space. Place a mirror opposite a window and it will bounce natural light into the room as well as inviting in whatever is outside your window. We recommend using the opportunity to bring views of your garden, or even the sky, right into the heart of your home. These reflections will add life and movement to the room as well as brightening darker corners.
Alternatively, mirrors can also be used to extend sightlines, in essence helping smaller spaces appear bigger. Opposite an entrance, they offer a visual ‘greeting’ and make compact hallways feel more capacious and welcoming. An oversized full-length mirror propped casually against a bedroom or guest room wall makes a powerful visual statement. One option is the softly glamorous FA33 Mirror, designed in 1933 by Gio Ponti. With its pure expression and organic curves, it will bring a gentle touch of timeless elegance to any interior space.
Of course, contemporary mirrors can also be striking centrepieces in their own right. Whether as part of a statement gallery wall or as a space-filler for small, blank corners, the right mirror will confer glamour and light in equal measures. A great alternative to art, they can be hung high or low to help maximise the sense of available space. The decorative crown-like detailing on the top of the circular Randaccio Wall Mirror, first designed in 1925 as one of Gio Ponti‘s signature styles, is one such example.
Let There Be Light
Zaha Hadid once said that without illumination there is no space. Light shapes our physical perception and how we process the world around us. Coming home to a drearily lit house therefore has far-reaching consequences for our mood and energy levels – a phenomenon that can easily be rectified by BEAUTIFUL INTERIOR LIGHTING.
