Grossman was highly influenced by European Modernism, which had been imported to the US by influential architects, such as Walter Gropius (founder of the Bauhaus) and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Grossman, in turn, played a significant role in defining the aesthetic of mid-century Californian Modernism.
The Gräshoppa Pendant is a child of Greta M. Grossman’s original Grasshopper lamp design from 1947, and thus exhibits the same signature steel shade that innovatively combines lightness and functionality to produce a modern yet organic character. Simultaniously exhibiting classic elegance and modern appeal, this pendant light is perfectly suited to a range of interiors and would look beautiful hanging over a kitchen counter or dining table.
