About Ludwig Mies van der Rohe
Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, who’s father owned a stonemasonry, was able to start his career working for his dads company. He followed an apprenticeship under the furniture designer Bruno Paul’s lead in Berlin. His work at the office of architect Peter Behrens anticipated the modern movement for contemporary furniture.
Ludwig then built his own office in Berlin, 1912. Followed by becoming a member of the Deutscher Werkbund and the Director of the Bauhaus.
