Product Description
Designed in 1953, the D.153.1 armchair was one of the few items of furniture Gio Ponti invited into his own private villa. The re-edition is produced by Molteni&C and based on the original drawings from the Ponti archives. It’s laidback, effortless silhouette is perfectly inclined to enable rest and relaxation. The Punteggiato Velvet fabric, designed by Ponti for Rubelli in 1934, reinterprets the age-old technique of velvet-weaving, bringing it up to date with staggered disk sequences and graduations of colour.
Materials & Finishes
Available online in Molteni&C's Two-Coloured Leather or Punteggiato Velvet (an upholstery designed precisely for this chair by Ponti himself). ( Frame in solid fir with elastic straps, covered in custom polyurethane in different thicknesses. Bonded velveteen lining. Armrests in solid fir covered in custom polyurethane. Legs in heat-sealed steel with a satin brass finish. Feet in non-slip plastic. BS5852

Other than the great architectural works which carry his unmistakable signature, he created a vast amount of work in the furniture sector.
