Making magic out of
metal since 1970

A quest for excellence...

Before they started taming metal, Giancarlo and Alessandro Bontempi juggled numbers for a living. But a fortuitous course in metalwork would soon lead them to their true passion: design.

In 1963 they founded Mobilfer, which would go on to become Bontempi Casa in 1970. In doing so, the brothers sought to bring a new sense of luxury to materials that were considered mechanical and urban, enshrining well before anyone else a new kind of industrial style.

Now in its second generation, the company maintains its commitment to finding the beauty in everyday things. Bringing forth a roster of luxurious yet down-to-earth styles that promise to transform routines into beloved rituals.

Dine right

At Bontempi Casa, they believe in dining the Italian way. An activity that requires drama, family and no shortage of limoncello.

Setting the stage for such an occasion are soulful sideboards, striking pendants, and all manner of contemporary dining sets.

Taken together, they help infuse the everyday with new beauty and flair. Showing how, in a world intent on moving ever faster, it’s the moments we choose to spend together that matter.

A calming corner

A calming corner

History’s movers and shakers didn’t agree on much. But if there was one thing that could unite them, it was the belief in the power of a room of one’s own. A private space in which to read, write or develop plans for world domination.

Some of our favourite designs for cultivating such a space come from Bontempi Casa. Through a series of versatile vanity stations, desks and consoles, they reimagine tired corners into spaces of unprecedented purpose and power.

Industrial design doesn't have to feel heavy. In fact, in the right hands, it can be light, whimsical and effortless.

Just ask Bernhadt & Vella, a Milanese-based design duo who are among some of the most exciting artists to have collaborated with Bontempi Casa.

“Our work is often defined as dynamic, spontaneous and poetic.”

Together, they take their traditional lexis of glass, metal and wood, and update it with flowing lines and fanciful flourishes that feel just right for free-thinking, modern homes.

Broken-plan living

Broken-plan living

There’s been a real itch for space over the past year. Fashion is fluid and loose-fitting. And urbanites who had sworn oaths of loyalty to metropolitan centres found themselves fleeing to the country.

But what if we didn’t have to choose between the practicality of a home office or a better, more beautiful space to store our things?

Enter the idea of broken-plan living.

The premise is simple. Take a floor-to-ceiling bookcase, and use it divide and conquer your living space. Not only can you use its shelves to showcase treasured possessions, but it’ll also help delineate where one space ends and the other begins. Allowing you to share space better, without compromising on any of the lovely light that comes with open place living layouts.
