The VIA57 is a modern, sculptural lounge chair designed by one of the 21st-century's most exciting architects, Bjarke Ingels. It was initially created for the VIA 57 West building in Manhattan, but its generous proportions and classic Scandi appeal has meant that it has made its way into fashionable hotels and homes the world over. Available in a wide range of fabrics, its a soft yet sleek armchair for modern living.
Materials & Finishes
The chair is composed of a steel frame embedded in moulded soft polyurethane foam. Two different densities create ideal
comfort. The wooden base is crafted from oak and finished with a clear lacquer, creating an elegant silhouette that seems to float in mid-air. The shell is upholstered with fabric, without using glue. The chair can be disassembled into different parts (shell and wooden legs) for recycling. The shell of the chair requires specialised recycling due to the embedded steel frame.
