Designed by Alessandro Mendini, the Proust Armchair is truly an iconic piece of Italian design. The hand-carved wooden frame is inspired by the ornate architecture of the Neo-Baroque period and tiny hand-painted Pointillist coloured dots cover its wooden frame and upholstery. It was the first in a long series of Mendini's "Redesigns" and remains the most loved of all of his furniture.
Materials & Finishes
The structure is hand-carved from beech before being painted by hand. The internal padding is crafted from multi-density polyurethane foam and the aesthetic structure upholstered in a choice of two multi-coloured Cassina fabrics. The first (PR_1) is light blue, grey and yellow. The second (PR_2) is black, green and red. The feet are transparent plastic.
