About Sori Yanagi
Sori Yanagi attended the Tokyo Art School in 1934 - the city he grew up in. Influenced by Le Corbusier and Charlotte Perriand when she worked in Japan. When Yanagi designed a product, he would make the first version over and over again by hand, aiming to create new forms that took shape from a mixture of his ideas. Sori Yanagi has achieved significantly more than the bridging of East and West in his conceptions. Launching his career following the Second World War, his work showed the refinements of the promising up coming industrial age without loosing the natural delicacy and glow of traditional Japanese design.
