Since its design in 1955, the Coconut Chair has become an icon of the luxury brand Vitra. With its polyurethane foam padding and minimal form, this chair is as comfortable as it is beautiful, adding both style and substance to your home. Evoking a sense of humour whilst simultaneously maintaining a sophisticated form, this lounge chair is perfectly suited to both playful and formal interiors alike.
Materials & Finishes
Lounge chair with white fibreglass-reinforced plastic shell and chromed tubular steel base. Upholstered in one-piece polyurethane foam padding and covered in Vitra's luxurious L20 leather. Fitted with plastic glides for carpet; felt glides for hard floors optionally available.

Most furniture and large items are delivered by our two-man Furniture Delivery service.
Items held in stock are typically delivered in 8-10 working days, if the delivery address is within the M25. Outside the M25, delivery may take up to 21 working days.
For items with production times, our logistics team will contact you to arrange a suitable time for delivery once we have received the items into our warehouse.

Place and pay for your order online and we’ll deliver it to our main showroom in Hatch End ready for your collection.
We’ll contact you when your order is available; for in stock items this is within 5 days of your order date, items not held in stock will be within 5 working days of arrival at our warehouse (see product page for indicative lead times).
Remember to bring your confirmation email with you as proof of purchase.

George Nelson was confronted to Architecture at Yale University and then at the American Academy in Rome. He became editor in chief of the ‘Architectural Forum’ from 1935 to 1944.
In 1946 he created his own Architecture and Industrial design business, and became famous for his pieces he created for Vitra, such as the Coconut chair, his Clocks and the Marshmallow Sofa. Since he started collaborating with Vitra in 1957, his conceptions have been acknowledged to be part of the highest standard creations of the 20th Century. His work is now recognized through out the world as design classics.
