While scrolling through our digital design feeds, we noticed several statement styles emerging as the darlings of interior designers across the globe. A mix of contemporary classics and re-issued icons, they offer an insight into the landscape of modern life. Join us as we delve into 10 of the Most Instagrammed Styles of 2020 so far.
Pacha by Gubi
Of all the interior rabbit holes we stumbled down this year, there was one style we kept coming back to. All generous curves and a stylish swivel base, Pierre Paulin’s Pacha lends an ethereal aspect to contemporary interiors — a serene cloud on which to lounge. Proving itself to be surprisingly versatile for such a distinctive piece, Claude Cartier’s Studio showed how to complete the 70s seduction with brass accent details and orb lighting. Louise Hjorth, on the other hand, kept things calm and muted with serene Scandi accessories.
Capitol Complex by Cassina
Whereas Pacha is defined by puffy silhouettes and touch-me fabrics, the Capitol Complex deals in sharp lines and graphic woods. A true interior power play, the collection was originally designed to furnish Le Corbusier’s Capitol Complex in Chandigarh, India — a brutalist masterpiece that would come to symbolise the nation’s modernist ambitions. Instantly identifiable by it’s “V” shaped structure, it introduces bold, linear lines into open space, creating aesthetically daring environments in much the same way as the Bauhaus designers did in the 1920s.
Togo by Ligne Roset
This season, laissez-faire living gets a colourful update via the chromatic Togo collection. Now in its 47th year, Michel Ducaroy’s masterpiece is as youthful as ever, upholstered in everything from tactile corduroy through to statement velvet. Available in a selection of pared-back stone finishes, it’s a design that neatly encapsulates the understated luxe trend we’ve been writing about this year.

With all of us spending more time at home than usual, we’ve enjoyed seeing people return to their Eames Lounge Chairs to indulge in some reading or some much-needed me-time. One of the most successful mid-century designs of all time, it can also double as an indulgent office chair as and when needed.

Paola Lenti is an Italian brand that helps designers erode the barriers between indoor and alfresco living. One such amphibious design is Nido, woven using high-tech yarn and ideal for creating a holiday-at-home feeling this season.
Quaderna Bench by Zanotta
Another item doing the rounds in creative circles is the Quaderna Collection by Zanotta — originally designed in the late 1960s by Superstudio. Its rigorous lines are enhanced by a digitally-printed checkered pattern — throwing up optical illusions and intrigue in contemporary homes. Keep your eyes peeled for more rationalist design resurgences as well as the return of monochrome as we head into autumn/winter 2020.
