Description
The Ayana Armchair reveals modern rustic design at its finest. The latest in an ongoing collaboration between Naoto Fukasawa and B&B Italia, it is a culturally hybrid piece. If it’s depths and heights are a clear reference to the south-east Asian tradition, the backrest recalls a Swedish wall bar, inviting a new kind of warm minimalism out into the garden. Clients can personalise the design further with a selection of statement waterproof cushions, each of which lends a new identity to the Ayana collection. The seat and back cushions are necessary but not included in the product so please add them to the option requirements.

Naoto Fukusawa’s design philosophy is to create products putting functionality first and foremost, inspired by how each item can be used in the context of daily life. Using functionality as inspiration, Fukasawa creates alluring designs highlighting beauty in the simplicity of everyday actions. Along with his unique flair, Fukasawa has garnered many acollades in his 40+ years of design, including the Issamu Noguchi Award in 2018, not to mention being on the judging panel for various design awards over the years. Some brands that Fukasawa has worked for include B&B Italia as well as Molteni&C.
