Description
The 19th-century English roll-arm sofa is considered one of the first examples of a modern sofa. Revered for its generous proportions, taut upholstery and curiously low armrests, it presents a unique and increasingly relevant typology for modern lounging. As part of their ongoing collaboration with Gubi, internationally renowned design studio, GamFratesi, have been asked to revisit its iconic shape, reinterpreting its clean lines with their typical precision and flair. The Flaneur Collection that they arrived at features straighter lines, a cleaner geometry and a wonderfully indulgent seat — ideally suited for many the demands of modern living. Partners in both work and life, Stine and Enrico Gamfratesi create modern designs with old souls. Though they hail from different countries respectively, we like to think that the blend of Scandinavian simplicity and Italian flair lends a sense of story, helping to establish the nostalgic design language for which they are best known. Today, their most famous collections include items like the Beetle Dining Chair and Epic Coffee Tables for Gubi.
