Product Description
The Pavilion Collection was inspired by the Langelinie Pavilion — a stunning modernist triumph nestled in the castle grounds of Copenhagen's Kastellet. Originally designed in 1885, it was destroyed in the Second World War and is today in its third iteration. The challenge for designers Andersson & Voll was therefore to create a chair that was equally enduring, while retaining the Pavilion's elegant lines and modernist feel.
“We wanted a freer form of expression and explored the idea of bent tubing teamed with bent plywood. The Pavilion chair has an airy feeling, with slim arms and legs that give it a light appearance,” explains Voll. “A softer aesthetic in a curvaceous silhouette that’s barely there.” The effect is lyrical, graceful and poetic. Almost like a tied rope that has come undone.
