Product Information
Description
In no other design is Finn Juhl’s fascination for surrealism more apparent than in the Pelican Chair. Out of all of his many contributions to Nordic style, the Pelican Chair was probably the one furthest ahead of its time. All organic curves and plush finishes, it tapped into one of Juhl's core beliefs. That armchairs could be thrones for living. And while Finn Juhl normally named his furniture numbers after the year in which they were designed, over time the nickname "Pelican" stuck to the chair. Very few were manufactured and the chair was almost forgotten until we rediscovered and relaunched the chair in 2001.
The characteristic soft and organic shape is expertly designed to cradle the body. Indeed, when you sit down, the chair practically gives you a friendly hug. Like many of Finn Juhl’s later designs, the chair offers several comfortable ways to sit. Rejecting formality and asking design lovers to find their own definition of comfort. Available with buttons or without buttons.

Price Promise
Our Price Promise
We know that price is important. And while all of our designs follow the recommended retail prices (RRP) from our suppliers, we’re determined never to be bested.
It’s why we decided to introduce our Chaplins Price Promise. A guarantee to try and match the price of a branded product should you find it on sale at another authorised UK retailer. While the offer only applies to new designs (rather than clearance, outlets or ex-display) it’s our way of showing that we don’t just offer the best in service or style, but are committed to competitive pricing, too.
Please click on the button below should you wish to query a price. If a competitor's offer isn't immediately apparent online, we may ask you to supply us with a written quotation from the retailer — just to confirm the details.
And remember, Chaplins newsletter subscribers get an exclusive first order discount when they sign up. All of the details of which you can find in the footer below.

Brand Profile
House of Finn Juhl
Finn Juhl saw things quite differently from custom Scandinavian design. He believed that the best design could be both unerringly bold and quintessentially timeless. After all, what is an armchair if not a throne for living? House of Finn Juhl has been relaunching Finn Juhl’s original furniture designs since 1999, in respect to his legacy, but in a modern reality. The furniture is crafted to carry the human body. The potential strength of the materials is utilised to the maximum just like nature’s own constructions and the result is immortal, everlasting and captivating.
