In 1935, Alvar and Aino Aalto had a radical idea. Together with Maire Gullichsen and Nils Gustav Hahl they decided to start a furniture brand that would promote modern culture while closing the gap between architecture, design and art. Today, that company is Artek. Renowned the world over for their functional furniture and lighting they have produced several icons of modern furniture including the 60 Stool and the 64 Bar Stool. Today, they stand for clarity and poetic simplicity, and delight in collaborating with designers from across the globe to bring beautiful Finnish design to an ever-expanding audience.
